Frequently Asked Questions
Do you conduct Virtual Tours?
Yes, I have turned the Audubon Mural Project Tour, the Harlem Tour, and East (AKA Spanish) Harlem Tour into Virtual Tours, conducted on Zoom or a similar platform, each about an hour. They have been well received by the audiences to which I have presented them. Of course, the virtual tours give me the opportunity to cross borders and time zones and reach a much broader audience, which is very exciting. For more details regarding my Virtual Tours, including pricing, please contact me directly at the phone # or email address above.
What do you to do to insure the safety of the guests on your tours in this time of Covid?
Attendees who are vaccinated are not required to wear a mask or face covering outdoors
Attendees who are not vaccinated need to wear a mask or face covering outdoors and indoors
How much does a tour cost?
Actual walking tours are $35 per person. There is no minimum number of people needed for a tour. For virtual tour pricing, please contact me.
Weather?
Generally the tours run rain or shine. I reserve the right to cancel the tour and give you a refund (minus booking fees) in case of extreme weather such as heavy rain and slippery conditions.
What to wear?
Most important is sturdy, comfortable footwear for walking on hard surfaces for at least two hours.
If the weather is chilly, please be sure to bundle up. Wear a warm enough coat and bring whatever gloves, hats, scarves, and boots that you would normally wear in cold weather. We want you to remember the great sights that we are going to see, rather than how cold you were!
Where to meet?
The confirming email about the tour will include information about the meeting place. Meeting places are generally near subway stops.
What about restrooms?
The tour will not necessarily include a restroom stop. I am aware of restrooms along the routes where I give tours. We will stop at one if the need arises.
Where do we end?
We will end in a different place from where we began. And we will end near a subway stop.
Is a gratuity expected?
Gratuities are not expected, but are always appreciated. A guideline for them would be $5 – $10 per person in your party.
What about dogs?
Please no dogs on the tour. If you have a special need for a service dog, I appreciate if you please discuss this with me in advance.
