Morningside Heights
A walking tour of Morningside Heights in NYC is the best way to see its academic institutions, iconic churches, neighborhood parks, and lovely apartment buildings, plus Ulysses Grant’s Tomb.
More about this tour: Morningside Heights is so compact that we can walk from the Southeast to the Northwest corner of the neighborhood in 2 hours. We see why this neighborhood is known as NYC’s “academic acropolis” as we stop at Columbia University, Barnard College, Teachers College, Manhattan School of Music, and two theological seminaries. And we visit two iconic New York churches: The Cathedral of St. John the Divine and Riverside Church. Also, we walk through both Morningside Park and Sakura Park. Finally, the impressive tomb of Ulysses S. Grant, Civil War General and later U.S. President, is the last stop in Morningside Heights.
